- The church that Abel is locked in seem to think he is a demon.
- Abel was a human in Victorian era Britain and remnants of this remain.
- He was an old world supernatural hunter who was cursed into a Gargoyle.
- Abel Holcombe is a name one might recognized as he was the writer of a bunch of supernatural scientific journals that were found and published after he disappeared. Though it was originally published as the wacky ramblings of an insane man to the public. But was a useful point of reference for hunters for a long time.

PERSONALITY
Personality goes here, there is no word count really, though if writing out pleas at least give one paragraph and if you're listing traits, please at least give 5!
HISTORY
Abel was born into a wealthy home in Victorian England, though he doesn't remember that much about his childhood. He remembers that his father was always working, and his mother was quite doting and obsessive over her sons, of which there were three. He was the middle child, with your typical middle child problems. He was not as superstitious as society was as a whole, which admittedly led to him keeping company with some people who remained his friends as he grew; Thackery and Gareth. Into adulthood, they were quite the trio. Then everything in Abel's life changed when he found out Gareth was now a vampire and Thackery mysteriously disappeared and turned out to be possessed by a pretty powerful demon. Which eventually killed him. So Jackary was dead, and Gareth was a vampire who ran off. Great. Awesome.
Losing both of his friends was a turning point for Abel, which led to him becoming an apprentice to a hunter who was known to be quite... acentric. His name was Francis Doyle. Not only was he a hunter of the supernatural, he was a researcher. He kept the ones they could capture alive as long as they could safely do so to learn as much as they could about them. Abel kept his own notes, which would later be found and published. He became quite a successful hunter, but he always stayed the apprentice of the Doyle who taught him despite starting to surpass him as Francis got older.
He had distanced himself from his family during this, mostly since they thought he had gone crazy and was a disappointment. That was until his older brother got possessed and they only had one person to turn to. His parents couldn't come to him, so they made his younger brother get him. This was the first time he had seen his younger brother in a long time, and a lot of the resentment he had for him as they grew up had melted away and was replaced with a fondness. He saved his older brother, though afterward he refused to speak to his parents who had previously refused to speak to him. But he started spending a lot more time with his younger brother. He started to teach him some basic supernatural self defense which seemed to be going pretty well. They were actually getting quite close.
Frances awoke Abel in the middle of the night to investigate some grave digging that had been reported. The culprits of which turned out to be a coven of witches whom they fought as best they could but in his old age one of them managed to badly injure Frances. Pulling him into a mausoleum Abel tried to stop the bleeding but there wasn't much to be done and his mentor ended up dying in his arms. Covered in the blood of his teacher, Abel decided that he was going to kill every last one of those witches for what they did to him and he went back out instead of falling back as he was requested by Frances to do.
He followed them to an old cathedral on top of a hill, and promptly chased one of them into a trap. He found himself in a forcefield he couldn't penetrate though could not see, surrounded by a circle of blood on the ground as well as laughing witches. In his frustration he tried his best to break through but to no success. They taunted him for what felt like hours though the sun didn't seem to rise. He spat back at them, commenting on how they were sullying a holy place just by being here. A comment which one of them seemed to find funny as she then said "if you care so much, then protect it for eternity" which the rest of them laughed about before starting some sort of ritual.
Being turned into a gargoyle wasn't the most painful part of his life. It was actually quite painless. Everything sort of went to black as the sun poured through the windows, and suddenly it was the next night and they were gone. At least, he thought it must have been the next night. The cathedral that they had led him to was abandoned as a few murders had occurred here, which Abel now suspected may have been the fault of those witches. He was alive, though. Why had they kept him alive?
He pushed open the doors and began to make his way out, intending to go back to Francis so he can take care of his funeral. He got to the church yard and suddenly fell flat on his ass. That same invisible barrier was suddenly stopping him from making progress. No... no no no no. He had to take care of burying Francis, nobody else knew what he wanted. And he was finally getting to a really good place with a family member. He tried moving more to see where the barrier was and it seemed to cover the church as well as the entire church yard.
Okay so he couldn't leave this area. Noted. He tried to dig his way under it, also no go. Seemed to also spread underground. He made his way back into the cathedral and checked himself to make sure they hadn't put anything on him or anything. Using the knowledge of the radial barrier, the dealing with witches, and the comment they had said about guarding it forever... He had a slight suspicion of what they had done to him. But he couldn't be sure, that was until the sun started to break through the windows and suddenly everything went black again and he awake to the view of the sun setting through the windows. That confirmed his theory, which despite being right made him feel worse.
Okay, so he's been turned into a Gargoyle. Surely somebody will find him, right? Surely somebody will come here at night and he will be able to get help. Francis had a lot of contacts that he could somehow get here, right?
